... época dos Santos Populares, oficialmente aberta!

Hoje abra a época dos Santos Populares. Em Lisboa, hoje à noite saem as primeiras  marcha , as de S. António. No Porto, as marchas saem dia 23 de Junho trazendo às ruas (da cidade mais linda!) o S. João. Para fechar a temporada, saem à rua as marchas do S. Pedro. Durante todo o mês vai sentir-se o cheiro a manjerico, a alho porro, a sardinha e pimentos assados (que delícia); as ruas ficam enfeitadas com fitas e fitinhas e por todo o lado ouvem-se o som dos (irritantes) martelinhos; no céu o espectáculo maravilhoso dos pontinhos de luz que os balões deixam no céu escuro da noite ( e eu, começo a perceber que no fundo no fundo, ando todo o ano à espera disto...) Adoro os Santos Populares! Divirtam-se.

João. to close the season, leaving the street marches S. Pedro. Throughout the month you will feel the smell of mangerico, the leek, sardines and roasted peppers (to delight), the streets are adorned with ribbons and ribbons, and everywhere you hear the sound of (annoying) hammers ; the marvelous spectacle in the sky of pinpoints of light that the balloons leave the dark night sky.
